Mapping Distributed Application SLA to Network QoS Parameters

چکیده
As more and more enterprise applications are running in distributed computer networks, the loss of revenue due to down time or poor performance of the applications increases exponentially[16]. This has created the need for diligent management of distributed applications. Management of distributed applications involves accurate monitoring of end-user service level agreements, and mapping them to the application level, system level, and network level parameters. In this paper, we provides a statistical analysis on mapping application level’s response time to network related parameters such as link bandwidth and router throughput by using some simple queueing models.

QoS Parameters to Network Performance Metrics Mapping for SLA Monitoring
Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a formal negotiated agreement between a service provider and a customer. The service level management (SLM) is the integrated management of all functionalities in the SLA life cycle. When a customer orders a service from a service provider, an SLA is negotiated and then a contract is made. In the SLA contract, QoS parameters that specify the quality level of ser...

متن کاملImproving QoS and Service Level Agreement of Mobile Application at Transport Layer using Fuzzy Logic Mapping
Mobile applications and mobile application environment of next generation networks require enhanced quality of service (QoS) to support user’s service level agreement (SLA). This paper presents an adaptation technique at transport layer to minimize the impact of varying and adverse network condition along with security and priority to satisfy the SLA. The paper extends the transport layer funct...
متن کاملSession-Level and Network-Level SLA Structures and VoIP Service Policy over DiffServ-Based MPLS Networks
This paper proposes a framework for session-level SLA (Service Level Agreement) and network-level SLA management to provide QoS-oriented application services over DiffServ/MPLS networks. DiffServ and MPLS technologies enhance the capability of QoS guarantee on IP network, and application service provider can provide QoS-oriented application services to their customers based on the transport net...
متن کاملMapping Service-Level Agreements in Distributed Applications
In a previous column, I discussed how to build distributed systems from quality-of-service (QoS)-aware software components.1 I also described a design by which individual components can engage in QoS negotiation and perform admission control so that new incoming requests don’t violate committed QoS requirements.2 But what happens in a distributed application made up of several QoS-aware compone...
